Harm Reduction Committee Chair

 

Sarah is a skilled Addictions Counsellor who currently holds CCAC and MATS certifications. She graduated from an Addiction Worker program in 2005 with Honours and has continued studies in Criminal Psychology and Behaviour, and Leadership and Management. She’s worked in the addiction field with clients from all age groups and walks of life.

In 2017 she was hired as a counsellor and case manager in a residential Managed Alcohol Program providing care under a Harm Reduction Model to clients experiencing homelessness, dual diagnosis, and criminal justice involvement. Sarah worked to help transform the program which saw more clients succeed in areas such as reduction of use and safer use, quitting the use of non-beverage alcohols (Rubbing Alcohol, Mouthwash, etc.), withdrawal management, suboxone use, safer injection, and mitigating the overall risks associated with addiction.

What is the Harm Reduction Committee?

 

The purpose of the Harm Reduction Committee is to help explore reduction of use and safer use of drugs and alcohol for anyone experiencing addiction.
