Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Adult clients with ADHD

This 18-week course helps to prepare mental health professionals to work with adult clients who experience the symptoms of ADHD. Mental health professionals need to know how to effectively treat adults with ADHD because these individuals are ‘treatable’ and can learn to manage their symptoms, which in turn can help them find control in an otherwise chaotic life in which they are often misunderstood in both personal and professional realms. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental syndrome, and presents with ongoing delays and difficulties that affect all domains of life. Adult ADHD is prevalent, and while most therapists have had seen the un-diagnosed ADHD client, they have not received formal training on how to work with this type of client. Consequently, the adult ADHD client is often overlooked along with their myriad of problems that often encompass marital, workplace, under-performance in life, low self-esteem, addictions, run-ins with the law, and more. Participants in this course will learn to work with adults with ADHD, many of whom will suffered untreated for the majority of their lives.
