experience in alcoholism and/or drug addiction counselling. Ø
Education
in the knowledge/skills base. Ø
Supervised
practical training and experience in both the twelve core functions, and the knowledge/skills
base of alcoholism and/or drug addiction counselling and of related areas. Ø
Passing of a written exam.

KNOWLEDGE

This
area demonstrates what knowledge and skills are essential for certification ranging
from ethics, human behaviour, continuum of care, counselling, case management,
professional responsibility, etc. The applicant must have a minimum of 270 hours
of education in the knowledge and skills area. Eighty of these hours must be alcohol
and drug specific.
